PACT Newletter

What a year it's been! Severe budget cuts curtailed our ability to provide services in many areas, but as Albert Einstein said, "In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." We applied for new programs and sought to expand current ones and we have been rewarded for our efforts. With your financial help,

• Our Neighbor Island presence has grown in depth and focus;

• The Economic Development Center was awarded part of the First To Work contract in sections of Oahu, North East and West Hawaii, and all of Kauai;

• Our Head Start and Early Head Start program now provides Head Start services through out Big Island;

• We are the new provider for the Department of Human Services' family strengthening diversion program on both Oahu and Maui;

• We are conducting a pre-school screening program within the Farrington Complex;

• The Oahu Family Peace Center is partnering in a national study through the Office of Juvenile Justice with the University of Hawaii, Manoa, looking to improve trauma informed care for children exposed to domestic violence;

• PACT's "Harry & Jeanette Weinberg" Lehua Transition House, offering shelter to women who have completed residence in a domestic violence shelter, will open in January of 2011.

We were able to achieve these major successes in large part because of your on-going financial commitment to PACT. Your pact with PACT has made us an unstoppable team for Hawaii's families. We hope as the year comes to a close, you will consider reviewing your commitment to Hawaii's families through a donation to PACT.

Happy Holidays and very best wishes for a safe, fulfilling, healthy and prosperous new year!
